Escape Online

Escape Studios has been developing creative talent for the past 18 years and we have ‘Escapees’ working in studios across the world. Now we’re taking our courses online, making them accessible to more budding artists and giving you the option of online or in-person study to suit your needs.

Start your course this year

All of our courses will be starting in September, regardless of the COVID-19 situation - whilst conforming to government guidelines. We will be delivering our short courses and postgraduate degrees online and we intend to resume face-to-face teaching as soon as we are able to do so, in line with government guidance.  We are committed to providing you with an authentic student experience, whether it be in the studio or online in one of our virtual classrooms.  *All courses are subject to minimum student numbers.

Studying online – what to expect

Our online courses are taught by our expert tutors, who bring their wealth of industry experience to the classroom with tips and tricks of the trade as practiced in the workplace. Our aim is to transform your career and ensure that you leave us “studio-ready”.
Our virtual classrooms have allowed our students to study from the comfort of their own homes, provided them with greater flexibility during their studies and have made our courses more accessible to our international students.

What's the Deal?

Students who study online will receive 30% off any portion of the course that happens virtually. You can choose to complete the whole of your course online for courses starting in 2020 or you can choose to switch to face-to-face teaching when the campus re-opens, giving you the best of both worlds (terms and conditions apply). * Our admissions Team can work with you to find the study option that suits you best – contact them or +44 (0) 20 7348 1920.

How we teach online

Our live online teaching provides you with an interactive approach to online learning, while still giving you the authentic Escape Studios student experience.
By taking our online courses, you will benefit from:

  • Live online courses that allow you to interact with your tutor and other students, ask questions and show your work virtually.
  • Small class sizes.
  • Access to our studio assistants who can help out with technical or recap issues.
  • Online industry feedback from our industry partners. Previous partners have included: Cinesite, ILM (Industrial Light and Magic), Framestore, Climax Games Studios, Sony London Studio, Jellyfish Pictures, ETC (Electric Theatre Collective) and MPC.

Check out the work that our students produced whilst studying online:

It was really eye opening how well online worked. Some students who were very quiet in the class blossomed. They had tons of interaction in groups and individually via Google Meet, Discord, email, phone. Much more work for Tutors but very rewarding.

Klaudija Cermak, 2D tutor

As surprising as it may seem, the online delivery of our courses (Undergraduate and Part Time as far as I'm concerned) provide an increased interactivity with students and therefore more support and feedback.

IT Support

Escape Studios appreciates that not everyone has access to the hardware and software they need to study online. Whilst our tutors are experts and great teachers, our courses are 100% practical, so you’ll need some sort of access.

While the best experience will be through having the software locally on your own machine, that’s not always possible, so we’ve developed different tiers of support to help you if you don’t have access to the necessary software:

1. We’ll be able to tell you if there are free versions of the software you need available through vendors. Many developers create free student versions or learning editions, which will be sufficient to practice with.

2. If this isn’t possible, we may be able to supply licences for the length of your course. This would allow you to download software onto your machine for the duration of the course.

3. Lastly, in some cases we may be able to give you remote access to workstations, so you can use them at certain times. Service can be affected by factors to do with your local ISP or bandwidth elsewhere, so this needs to be negotiated beforehand.

However, having your own software is always going to be the best bet!
