Mental Health First Aid Training for the VFX and Animation Industries
Escape Studios have partnered with MHFA and Access: VFX to run workplace mental health training. The mental health first aid training is supported by ScreenSkills using National Lotteryfunds awarded by the BFI as part of the Future Film Skills programme.
Workplaces that promote mental health and offer support are more likely to reduce absenteeism and increase productivity. The creative industries can be a stressful place to work so we’re working with our partners to offer Mental Health First Aid Training for employees in the VFX and Animation industries.
To help us nurture the next generation of VFX and Animation artists it is important for us to support students and employees, to learn how to identify mental health issues as soon as possible and know the correct procedures to follow.
We are partnering with MHFA England to deliver one day and two-day workshops with a qualified trainer. We have 56 places for our industry partners and this training will be offered at a 50% discount, £75 (full price £150). There are 48 places on the one day course and 8 places for our two day course which is £103 (full price £206).
- 1 day Workplace MHFA to Industry (48 places available) 9am - 5pm with a 1 hour break - Available: Tuesday 3rd, Thursday 5th and Friday 6th March. The one day courses have the outcome of producing what are termed "mental health champions” and provide a very good foundation for spotting signs of mental health problems which can then be escalated to the MHFA'ers.
This one day mental health awareness and skills course qualifies your employees as MHFA Champions, giving them: Knowledge and confidence to provide Mental Health First Aid for the most common mental health issues. An understanding of how to help build a mentally healthy workplace, challenge stigma and support positive well being.
- 2 Day Workplace MFHA to Industry (8 places available) 9am - 5pm with a 1 hour break - Available: Thursday 5th to Friday 6th March. The two day courses qualify participants as Mental Health First Aiders.
This two day course qualifies your employees as Mental Health First Aiders, giving them: An in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect well being. Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of a range of mental health issues. Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress using the Mental Health First Aid action plan. Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgmental listening. Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support - whether through self-help resources, internal support such as EAP, or external sources such as their GP. An understanding of how to keep themselves safe while performing their duties.
The training will take place at Escape Studios, 190 High Holborn, London.
This training will be extremely valuable for anyone looking to support colleagues who suffer from mental health issues and it’s a great step in the right direction in tackling the effects of poor mental health in the workplace.
