The information published on these pages shows:

The number of applications for admission on to recognised, undergraduate higher education courses that we have received from UK domiciled applicants.

The number of offers we have made in relation to those applications.

The number of those offers accepted and the number of those who have registered with us.

The number of students who attained a particular degree or other academic award, or a particular level of such an award, on completion of their course with us.

It also shows these numbers by reference to:

  • The gender of the individuals to which they relate
  • Their ethnicity
  • Their socio-economic background. 

It is important to note that the data presented has not been contextualised. This means, for example, that you will not be able to see from this data how many of those applying to courses met the entry criteria. It is also the case that universities and colleges will often receive many more applications than they have spaces on courses and so offer rates will necessarily be lower than application rates in those circumstances.

As a small and relatively new alternative provider, the cohort which this data is based upon is limited and as such minor differences in real numbers can produce large proportional changes. We also have very little prior data against which to judge our performance, meaning our ability to benchmark against previous years is very limited. However, we have provided contextual information below to provide a fuller picture of our performance.

AOAR: 38% of applications for full time study were made by BAME applicants, compared to a 32% BAME population in Greater London (according to the 2011 census). BAME students were marginally more likely to receive an offer, more likely to accept an offer, and significantly more likely to register as a student. We will continue to monitor the gap between acceptance and registration in future years. 

Applications from IMD quintiles 1 and 2 for full time study were in line with the population. Applicants from quintiles 1 and 2 were marginally less likely to receive an offer, but were more likely to accept offers and more likely to register, suggesting we are seen as an accessible institution by such students. Benchmarking data is not readily available for the Indices of Multiple Deprivation, but our POLAR4 intake of students from Low Participation Neighbourhoods is 7.8%, just 0.3% lower than our location adjusted benchmark (source: HESA Experimental Statistics UK Performance Indicators).

43% of applications for full time study were made by female students. However, this gap is fully explained by our course offering, as many courses within our Escape Studios are in disciplines traditionally dominated by male students. As detailed in our Access and Participation Plan, female participation in these courses is markedly better than the sector average according to UCAS.

Data for students applying for a degree apprenticeship programme of study indicates a wider differentiation in terms of ethnicity and IMD quintiles in comparison to standard degree programmes. Whilst we are a relatively new institution with small data sets, this is an area that we will be closely monitoring and working with apprenticeship employers to ensure there is no disparity.  We are, additionally, reviewing our admissions processes to ensure equitable treatment of all students. This will include tracking the attendance and attainment of students at workshops, and the extent to which they correlate with degree outcomes. This is explained further in our Access and Participation Plan.  

Attainment: As we are such a young institution, and our graduating cohorts have thus far been small, almost all our attainment data is suppressed. There is a notable difference between the proportion of male and female qualifiers graduating with a 2:1 or above. However, given the small numbers of students in this cohort, more data is needed to build a reliable picture. We will continue to monitor this gap in future.

Transparency return 2019 - Rounding and suppression

The data contained in the tables in this workbook (tables 1a, 1b, 2a and 2b) have been rounded and suppressed as follows:

Numerators and denominators have been rounded to the nearest 10. Where the numerator or denominator rounds to 20 or less, the data will be suppressed with an 'N'.

Percentages will be rounded according to the smallest, unsuppressed denominator with a given mode and characteristic. If the denominator rounds to:

- 50 or less: percentages are rounded to 5%

- 1000 or less: percentages are rounded to 1%

- More than 1000: percentages are rounded to 0.1%

'"N/A" is displayed where there is no provision in a given mode or level

'"DP" indicates suppression for data protection reasons. This is applied where the numerator is two or less, or differs from the denominator by no more than two students.
