How did studying at Escape Studios help you into the world of Animation?
Being at Escape gave me the opportunity to communicate with industry professionals on a one to one basis. I gained insider knowledge that helped my work progress to the standard I was hoping to achieve and got answers to questions that had bugged me for along time.
What are you working on at the moment?
This year I have been working on: Dr Who, Milk VFX (January) Kingsman: The Golden Circle, The Senate (February) Dr Who, Milk VFX (March) Star Wars: The Last Jedi, One Of Us (April) Jurassic World Sequel, One Of Us (April)
What's your favourite movie and why?
Some of my favourite movies: Blade Runner, Star Wars, Alien, Jaws, Toy Story, Jurassic Park, The Martian, Avatar, Moon, Mad Max and many more
What lessons have you learnt during your time studying and your time working in the industry?
The sky's the limit, If you want something bad enough you can achieve your goals. I never thought my passion for VFX and animation could take me to where I am today.
What were you doing before your course at Escape Studios?
Before taking a course at Escape I was a student at Norwich University of the Arts studying animation.
How quickly after completing your course did you secure your first job?
After finishing my course at Escape it took me several months till I landed my first job as a runner at a boutique animation studio in Shoreditch. This in itself was not easy but if you are persistent its possible.
If you had to sum up your time at Escape Studios in one word, what would it be and why?
Inspiring would be a good word. I got to see work being created that I admired and the chance to push my own ideas and skills in the direction I wished.
What is your advice for those considering entering the industry?
Advice would be work hard, play hard and study harder. Enjoy what you are doing and don't get put off when things are not going the way you want them to. VFX is all about problem solving and looking at these issues in a creative way. If you can Imagen it you can create it and once you have landed your first few jobs you should be off and running.
