What course did you study?

I started at Escape Studios with 3D Foundation for VFX in March 2016.

What’s your favourite movie and why?

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace is probably the one. It is a story of space wizards, spaceships, droids, and some politics, all in all an amazing combination. Also it shows amazing VFX and 3D modeling craftsmanship.

Where do you currently work? / What are you working on at the moment?

Currently I’m freelancing as a 3D modeler for various clients while living in Vancouver, Canada. My current projects are VFX for a short film called Project Human and modeling for 3D printing companies.

What have you worked on since you left Escape Studios?

I worked on one other short film, made parts for costumes and separate props like 3D-printed guns and rifles, worked on mineral water and beer commercials, designed charging stations for power banks, custom toys.

What work are you most proud of working on and what is your most notable achievement?

I do occasionally struggle when making something organic, like human shapes, which is why I’m very happy when I’m able to pull it off. One of my commissions was a cartoon human character, which was a challenge, but I’m proud of how he turned out.

What have you worked on you left Escape Studios?

Since I left Escape Studios I had the opportunity to work on lots of great shows.I worked on Adrift, in which Milk made a massive effort to rebuild a stormy ocean in CG as well as the Digi Doubles for the main characters and the boat. I also worked on quite a few series with shorter turn round like Altered Carbon for Netflix and Origin, Electric Dreams, Good Omens and many others.

What is it like to work as a 3D Modeler?

It’s very rewarding, the ability to produce things that you come up with in your mind is amazing. You are like a smith who produces works of art using a digital forge.

What do you find most exciting about working in the creative industry?

The industry is filled with people who have interesting and cool ideas, so everybody kinda feeds off of each others creativity and then inspire each other to produce wonderful works of art, films, animation, and games.

If you had to sum up your time at Escape Studios in one word what would it be and why?

Fantastic. Everybody is creative, funny, respectful and helping. The atmosphere there encourages you to grow as an artist and you don’t feel lonely or isolated, but rather you are a part of a very cool family.

How did studying at Escape Studios help you into the world of Modeling? / prepare you for this role?

Escape Studios gave me the skills I needed to begin my work as a modeler, but also it gave me confidence that I can do this, that I can make this into a job that I enjoy. I’m very thankful for that.

What lessons have you learned during your time studying and your time working as a 3D Modeler?

Everything takes time, and with time everything looks better. Anyone can create art, all you need is effort, just by coming to the studio and working on your skills or projects you are drastically levelling up yourself.

What is your advice for those considering entering the industry?

If you are thinking about going into the industry the give it a try, try to experience what the industry has to offer. It is an amazing environment full of hardworking, interesting and creative people. If you want it can be your full-time job, but just like any job there will be times when it will pressure you and at the same time reward you immensely.
