What course did you study?
How did studying at Escape Studios help you into the world of VFX?
Thanks to very good tips and the accurate feedback aimed to develop my artistic and technical skills. Teachers showed me the way to achieve the best result but through deep explanations of software. They make us independent for the future challenge.
What are you working on at the moment?
I'm currently working for Bluezoo Animation Studios as Fx TD, it is an animation company, full of creative artists and lovely people. Mainly it is an animation based company, but you can take part in so many different projects as TV series, teaser or advertisement, integration projects and so on; you will never get bored! As you can imagine, the most challenging thing is to adapt your skills every time into different stories, characters or environments to represent a unique style.
What lessons have you learnt during your time studying and your time working in VFX?
I’ve learnt to manage tasks and avoid the stress caused by deadlines, but also collaborate with people and share the knowledge to speed up the workflow.
What work are you most proud of working on and is your most notable achievement?
I worked on Digby which is a BlueZoo product, an Animation TV series, full CG with the aim to entertain and educate the child. Digby is a Dragon that dreams to fly; living in a Forest with his best friends he always stumbles on funny troubles... spells, avalanche of rolling nuts, magic potion, dry ice, fire, river, bubbles and many more, were my daily challenges to spread into his world.
The next piece that I am most proud to have worked on is City Light which is a short film produced by an independent director who was introduced to me thanks to Escape Studios. This is a romantic story, London-based, where a man is doing crazy things for love. The director is a very talented person and he puts together a product that has been selected and screened at the LA Short Film Fest 2016. It was really nice to work with him and the few others Escapee Students in this project. 3D Integrations and compositing, were my main tasks.
If you had to sum up your time at Escape Studios in one word, what would it be and why?
Once you’ve completed the course you are ready for business! The professional environment leads you to achieve the best company approach, discipline and teamwork; help you to manage and understand the work attitude. I think there is a clear difference between an educational course and a professional course, Escape Studios was for me a professional experience where I could learn and improve my skills.
What's your favourite movie and why?
Since I was a child my favorite movie was Fantasia (1940) from Disney, the creativity was explained in an unconventional way and the imagination without boundaries.
