How did studying at Escape Studios help you get into the world of business?

It has opened me a world of possibilities considering I’ve learned a bunch of high-level skills with very experienced tutors, who no doubt brought me to another level on my craft.

Where have you gone on to work and what is your role?

I am co-founder and director at SquarePixel Films, a film production company based in Brazil and in the United Kingdom. We are specialized in advertising film production and own more than 50 International Awards, including a Cannes Lions Grand Prix.

What are you working on at the moment?

I am directing and producing a few Ads for Black Friday Advertisers and Agencies.

What do you enjoy most about working for SquarePixel Films?

I like the idea of being part of a 360-degree environment, where one day I am on set, directing a TV Ad and the day after I fly to meet a cool group of agency creatives to see what’s going on and how we can collaborate.

What lessons have you learnt during your time studying and your time working in the VFX industry?

While studying I’ve learnt deep and thorough techniques that made me more confident and definitely a better professional. While working in business, one of the most valuable lessons I’ve learnt is that above any technique and skill, if you are meant to be a business owner, you must excel both in business administration and craft. Never underestimate one for the other. Your business needs you as much as your clients do.

If you had to sum up your time at Pearson College London in one word, what would it be and why?

Fantastic.

What advice would you give to students looking to start a career within the business industry?

I would say study hard, understand your weaknesses as soon as possible and turn it in strengths as soon as possible. Love the game as it is, love the challenges and mainly do everything with the same passion you would if it was the greatest project of all.

What's your favourite brand and why?

I do not have a favourite brand but I do admire a few; Disney is a great company, for instance. I treasure great working environments and a good work-life balance. I believe those are key aspects for a successful company.

What course did you study?

Master of Arts in Visual Effects Production. Compositing.
