Film and media Saturday Club

The National Saturday Club is a publicly funded outreach programme which aims to involve 13–16-year-olds in a creative subject at a local institution. The National Saturday Club caters to a variety of young people’s interests and with a countrywide network, it is a fantastic opportunity to encourage young people to engage with a subject they love or are interested in.

We organise a Film and Media Saturday Club annually at our campus where members can learn more about the world of animation, games and VFX. Our club members work with an expert tutor and are supported by our Studio Assistants and Student Ambassadors to create their own creative pieces in our high-tech studios.

Applications for our 2024 club will open on 13th May 2024.

Summer Show: Somerset House

The National Saturday Club Summer show is a public exhibition held at Somerset House, London and is an opportunity for all Saturday Clubs to display their members work and what they have learnt during their programmes.

The show also includes a graduation ceremony for club members to receive a certificate and to be applauded by a live audience for their hard work and involvement in their club.

The exhibition is also advertised to local businesses and companies who may be recruiting or looking for potential talent to do work placements or internships in the future with them.

FAQs

All students aged 13-16 are eligible to apply for the Saturday Club. Places are limited, and priority will be given to young people from underrepresented groups.

Underrepresented groups include those eligible for Free School Meals, Looked After Children/Formerly Looked After Children, and those from deprived areas or areas where young people are least likely to go to university.

You'll learn digital skills used in the creative industries through creative project work. You will be able to use high-powered computers at Escape Studios to be able to work on your own creations.

There will be 18 sessions, every Saturday from November 2024 to March 2025 - dates to be confirmed nearer the time. The club will have a break during the Christmas holidays for three weeks with these dates being 16th, 23rd and 30th December.

The Club is taught by Escape Studios tutors who are experts in the industry, supported by Escape Studios students and Studio Assistants.

All materials, equipment and educational visit costs for this course will be covered by Escape Studios.

Club members will arrive to the club from 10am and work on a project focus with the Escape Studios tutor which will change weekly or bi-weekly. Sessions will include a 15-minute break.
