Dr Laura Marulanda-Carter

Laura joined Escape Studios in 2021 and in her role as Head of Tech & Data Hub, she is responsible for establishing a series of short courses and Master's programmes for creative industry partners looking to bring data/digital skills to their workforce. As a self-professed lifelong learner she is also studying for an MBA whilst acting as a representative on behalf of UN Women UK. Laura has also been recognised for her contributions as a Tech Women 100 Winner.  

Prior to joining Escape Studios, Laura graduated from Loughborough University with a first-class honours in Information Management, she was funded to complete PhD research exploring human-computer interaction in public sector organisations. Laura has also been published in the Journal of Systems and Information Technology and featured in articles in The Telegraph and The Conversation. Laura took time away after research to start her own business before joining the education sector.

With a passion for digital technologies over the last five years she has led curriculum development and co-designed new qualifications in collaboration with consortium of employer partners including Microsoft, McAfee, Evidence Talks, Sainsbury’s, and VWFS.
