Motion Capture and Creature Locomotion Guest Tutors

Last week was a busy week at Escape Studios, our short course Animation students were treated to, not one but two guest tutors. The first one was industry veteran Sydney Padua.

Sydney took over the class for two days to teach our students about animal and creature locomotion. She has had a long and varied animation career and some of the projects she’s worked on include the classic The Iron Giant and the Oscar winning The Jungle Book (2016). She has also published the graphic novel "The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage".

Take a look at more of Sydney's work.

For the second half of the week we had our very own Steven Hall teach the students all about Motion Capture. This is a game changing technique, used on films such as Planet of the Apes. You can check out more of Steven’s work.

Guest tutors help both our short course and undergraduate animation students learn more about specific techniques such as Motion Capture and locomotion from experts in their fields like Steven and Sydney.
