Escape Studios Presents The VFX Festival
: An Exploration into New Trends, Technology and the Future of the Industry Framestore to present 'Avengers: End Game'; Epic Games, INITION, Media Monks, and SideFX join the 7th VFX Festival 2019 line up.

Escape Studios, part of Pearson College London, is thrilled to announce the 7th annual VFX Festival, which celebrates the best in VFX, Games, Animation and Motion Graphics. The two-day event, based in central London, will run from 5th – 6th June 2019 and is dedicated to inspiring the next generation of filmmakers, gamers and animators, to ensure the continued growth of the creative industries in the UK.

Over the two days, Escape Studios will be hosting and presenting the second part of the annual VFX Festival 2019, with a series of different events including The VFX Festival After Hours and The VFX Festival The Future. These events will focus on the wealth of changes taking place in the creative industries and how these elements are diversifying and changing to adapt to the future. Exploring new trends and changes in technologies such as VR, AR and motion capture.

The VFX Festival - After Hours   

This 2-day event will take place on 5th – 6th June 2019 in the heart of London, within walking distance from many award-winning studios and creative companies. Hosted in state-of-the-art facilities in Holborn, these late afternoon technical talks and advanced workshops are dedicated to experienced industry and young professionals looking for knowledge-building and networking opportunities and students looking to progress their career in the creative industries.

On 5th June industry tutors, on behalf of Epic Games, will deliver engaging sessions on Unreal Engine - a complete suite of development tools made for anyone working with real-time technology. From enterprise applications and cinematic experiences to high-quality games across PC, console, mobile, VR and AR, Unreal Engine 4 gives you everything you need to start, ship, grow and stand out from the crowd.

SideFX will be hosting sessions after hours on 6th June to showcase the use of their products in the best industry productions.  Houdini is used by numerous leading digital content creation facilities including: Pixar Animation Studios, Ubisoft, Walt Disney Animation, Blizzard Entertainment, Blue Sky Studios, Digital Domain, DNEG, Electronic Arts, Framestore, Guerrilla Games, Sony Pictures Imageworks - and thousands more.

During the event, Escape Studios’ industry partner Framestore will deliver a production presentation on 'Avengers: Endgame'. More details to be announced soon.

The VFX Festival – The Future

O​n 6th June 2019, The VFX Festival ​The Future will open doors for professionals and students looking for knowledge about changes taking place in the creative industries and how these elements are diversifying and changing to adapt to the future. The VFX Festival The Future will consist of talks on projects delivered by leading studios and panel discussions focusing on skills and technology of the future.

Inition’s, Jay Short will be sharing his extensive industry experience and understanding of emerging technologies in ‘Beyond the Hype’. His role and the role of INITION as a company is to help clients to understand the actual value in using new technologies rather than simply being caught up in the hype.

MediaMonks’ Head of R&D, Sander van der Vegte, will be opening the doors to the lab to show which cutting-edge technologies will change the creative industries, and how emerging technologies can add value to a wide variety of industries in: ‘A look inside the Lab: the Weird and Wonderful World of Unexpected Results.’ Using emerging tech to stretch the boundaries of what’s possible can return funny, insightful, and oftentimes just plain weird results.

The guest speakers will engage in a panel discussion focussing on the wealth of changes taking place in the creative industries and how these elements are diversifying and changing to adapt to the future.

The VFX Festival was developed by Escape Studios, part of Pearson College London; the festival aims to bring together a number of highly respected colleagues from all spectrums of the VFX, Games, Animation and Motion Graphics industries.
