We are excited to announce our Virtual Work Experience event, which will be taking place on Tuesday 12th July 2022.

An opportunity for school students to discover the creative industries and build their professional skills through this free Virtual Work Experience event.

The Catch 22 surrounding work experience can seem impossible to overcome. To get a job, you need experience, but to gain experience, you need a job.  

Our virtual work experience programme is here to help you break out of this loop by boosting your employability, building new skills in VFX, Animation and Games, introducing you to new contacts and expanding your professional network in the creative industry. 

You will take part in activities designed to challenge, inspire and expand your knowledge. 

Our guest speakers will include and cover:

  • Recruiters from Industrial Light & Magic (the studio behind The Mandalorian and Obi-Wan Kenobi, who recruit and train young talent through their Jedi Academy) and Creative Assembly will talk about career opportunities.
  • Industry experts from NextGen Skills Academy will explain the different routes to get into the VFX, animation and games industries.
  • Escapees who now work at Framestore, Dimension Studio and Factory 42 will share their journey from studying with us to getting their first job.

What’s more for me?

Gain a digital badge

Attendees joining the live event will receive a digital badge after the event. Your digital badge will be sent to the email you used to book your place. Badges will be sent within one week after the event. Unfortunately, we will not be providing badges to attendees watching the recording after the event. You have to be there!

Make the most of our skills sheet

Filling in this skills sheet as you go will help you make the most of the event, and help you assess your progress. Moreover, it will provide you with a basic self-assessment of your knowledge. At the end of the programme, you will be able to identify the areas you might want to focus on improving. 

Attendees submitting their Skills Sheet will be able to receive a 'Participant Badge' in addition to the 'Attendee Badge' . Information on submitting your Skills Sheet will be shared during the event.
