Everyone wants an app these days. But how should you go about building one? This course will take you through the ideation, user experience and prototyping phases of designing an app. No coding skills are required to successfully complete this course.

By the end of the course, you will understand the steps required in the ideation, UX and prototyping phases of building your own app.

What are Apps?

How do apps work and why have they become so popular? How do we classify apps, what kinds of apps are out there and how do they differ?

Ideation

Some people come up with their best ideas in the shower, others while jogging and others while sitting under apple trees. But wouldn't it be great if you could turn on a tap in your brain and ideas would come flooding out? We will look at various techniques to maximise the way your brain comes up with ideas.

User Experience

"Subjective reality is much easier to change than actual reality" - Rory Sutherland We will look at user experience and the rules of design that allow us to control the behaviour of our users.

Fake it until you make it (prototyping)

We look at various prototyping tools that allow you to turn your sketches into something a little more professional looking.

Who is this course suited to?

No previous experience is needed. You must be aged 16+ and have access to a computer.

How is the course delivered?

Design an App Without Code is a live online course. It is delivered over 1 week, with daily live sessions. Once you have registered, the link to access the course will be sent via email before the course start date.

Who is teaching the course?

Chris Jones, Entrepreneurship Tutor. Chris is also the head code monkey of TechBank. He's been programming in various languages since he was 12 years old.

How do I register?

Complete the sign-up form below to register for the course. Registration closes 24 hours before the course is due to start. You will need to login into our Virtual Learning Environment to take part in the live lessons and access course materials. Full instructions and your login details will be emailed to you ahead of the course by course administrator Lidia Kalinowska (Lidia.Kalinowska@pearson.com).
