We're here to help you do more than just graduate
At Pearson College London, you'll start your career from day one, with personal and professional development an integral part of your degree.
We'll give you the know-how you need to find your dream internships, and ultimately your dream job, and we'll help you develop what employers call the 12 core competencies, the skills and qualities you need to succeed in the workplace.
Best of all, we'll always be here to give you one-to-one support, advice and feedback, to help you realise your ambitions, even after you graduate.
We want you to achieve your career goals, whether you've got a dream job in mind or you simply want to explore and see what's out there. That's why you'll get individual career coaching throughout your degree, helping you develop the specific skills and experience you need for the job you want.
You'll meet your Talent Coach at your Induction Weekend and make a start on your personal career development plan, setting out your career aims and aspirations. You'll sit down with your Talent Coach regularly and they'll help you with everything from exploring job opportunities and finding work experience, to applying for graduate jobs and much more. In this way, your career development plan will grow and evolve as you do, and we'll revisit it often, together. You'll also have a company-based mentor, on hand to guide you as you develop new skills and ideas.
You'll be able to talk to a careers advisor whenever you want to, in the way that suits you best, whether face-to-face, online or over the phone. You'll also have unlimited access to our Online Careers Service, making it easy to plan you future around other commitments like work and study. We run careers workshops at our annual residentials too, giving you the chance to pick up a whole range of hints and tips from experienced career professionals. It doesn't stop after you graduate either, our careers service is open to all our students, past and present.
We know how important internships are, so all our full-time students are guaranteed at least one internship as part of their studies, subject to academic performance. Experience in the workplace is a great way to develop your employability skills, whilst getting a valuable insight into the reality of working life. It's also becoming more and more important in today's competitive graduate job market. Our students have worked in a whole range of sectors, at well-known companies including the Financial Times, Fox International Channels, Direct Line Group, and Holiday Extras.
You'll have the chance to do an internship in your first or second year, usually over the summer. We'll do everything we can to find the one that's right for you, so you can really make the most of the opportunity.
An internship will help you:
Improve your CV and your confidence, and you'll develop professional skills and qualities that will help you stand out and show employers you're keen and have taken the time to gain experience, as well as a degree.
You can find an internship on a website like Magnet.me.
Put your learning into practice
Putting theory into practice in the real world is a useful skill for your future career and will help to enhance your academic understanding.
Explore your options
If you've got a career in mind, an internship will give you a valuable insight into the industry and role you're interested in. It will also show you the skills and knowledge you'll need to be successful in your chosen field. If you're not sure what you'd like to do, it will help you discover what's out there and give you inspiration.
Build great contacts
You'll meet people who'll be useful in your future career and get support and guidance from a mentor. You're likely to work closely with them day-to-day and develop a good working relationship, so they'll be a great person to give you a reference.
Improve your prospects
Employers expect a lot of graduates these days and the expectation is you'll have practical and relevant work experience, as well as a good degree. An internship is a great way to achieve this and will give you a real foot in the door.

I now have an idea of what's next for me after my course. My outlook has changed in that business is so much more interesting than I ever realised.
Escape Studios is Europe’s leading visual effects (VFX) academy and we’ve been part of Pearson College London since 2013. We sprang into life in 2002, to solve the industry’s lack of educated, studio-ready VFX talent. Since then, over 4,000 people have graduated from Escape, going on to forge successful careers spanning the whole VFX spectrum, and we can help you do the same.
The clinics are an opportunity for you to get constructive feedback on your showreel, from a tutor and your fellow students. Each clinic includes a maximum of four to six students so they’re very personal and focused, and during the session, you’ll have your showreel individually assessed, in terms of the quality of the shots you are presenting along with the type of editing applied.
After each session, we’ll give you a brief report, which lists all improvements to be made before your next appointment. At your second visit, the tutor will determine whether your showreel is ready to be used for job applications.
Our showreel clinics take place regularly at Escape Studios, and if you are unable to attend in person, your showreel will be reviewed as normal with the summary report sent to you directly.
Email the Aftercare Support to book a showreel clinic.
Along with the Showreel clinics, we’ll also provide you with our showreel guidelines, to guide you to produce an effective, finely tuned demoreel to the latest industry standards.
CV Advice and Template
We’ll give you a template to help you produce a professional, industry-standard CV, showing you the sections and information you need to include. Once you’ve created your CV and covering letter, you are very welcome to contact our Aftercare Team, and receive their feedback about any improvements you could make. You are encouraged to chose the way you would like to receive your feedback such as a face-to-face chat, via email or over the phone.
Escape Studios is open during the evenings from Monday to Thursday and you’re welcome to book a seat to work on your showreel, for all the duration of your Aftercare Support. This is subject to availability.
We’ll let you know the best places to search for jobs and give you all the support we can, to help you develop your career.
