The power of previsualisation

The film and VFX industry extensively relies on previsualisation techniques using a combination of 2D and 3D tools, in order to block out scenes and plan for both on-set shoots and visual effects to avoid unnecessary work and errors.

In this webinar, our Previs tutor Iliana Franklin will give you an introduction to the previs workflow, answering questions such as: What is Previsualisation? What do you need to know to work in Previs? What does she teach in the Previs course at Escape Studios? She will also be demonstrating software skills and techniques in Maya, Panel Forge and Toon Boom Storyboard Pro, and explaining how they are used within the previsualisation workflow.

The host

Iliana Franklin, our Storyboarding and Previs tutor, is the Art Director at Mediaframe Ltd. She also has over 30 years experience in the animation industry working on various TV shows including Mecky and his friends (1994), Hungarian Folk Tales (1992-1996), “Spirou” (1993–1995), Carland Cross (1996), and some feature film projects including  A Monkey’s Tale (1999) and The Princess and the Pea (2002).

During the demonstration, Alex will show you how to make Monty happy, sad, angry, or scared, masculine or feminine, and even turn him into a goose-stepping soldier! All with a basic walk cycle, and in just a few clicks.

It's a great technique that breaks down apparently complex outcomes into simple, basic steps that any animator can master.
