Introducing the ultimate Live Showreel Review with The Third Floor, Jellyfish Pictures and Creative Assembly

This one-night event is full of promises as we welcome Artists from three big VFX, Animation and Games studios in England to review some of our Escapees (alumni) work.
Michelle Blok, Visualization Supervisor from The Third Floor, Luca Mazzoleni, Head of Animation from Jellyfish Pictures and Greg Smith, Senior Environment Artist from Creative Assembly will join us to each give live comments on some of our best Escapees’ showreels and portfolios.

This is an unmissable opportunity to gain a better idea of what industry professionals are looking for and how you can improve your own showreel. There will also be some time for our guest speakers to answer your questions at the end of the event.

Oh and what’s more? There will be snacks and drinks too!

Michelle Blok, Visualization Supervisor at The Third Floor

Michelle has worked on a variety of feature films, as well as supervising four seasons of HBO’s award-winning Game of Thrones, for which she herself won 2 Emmys. Her film work includes Avengers: Age of Ultron, Maleficent, Clash of the Titans, Quantum of Solace, The Dark Knight, and Sweeny Todd. Michelle began her previs career at Nvizage where she progressed from previs artist to supervisor. She worked as the previs lead on Hugo, Dracula Untold and Edge of Tomorrow. Since starting at The Third Floor London in 2012, Michelle has supervised all areas of previs, postvis, and techvis.

Luca Mazzoleni, Head of Animation at Jellyfish Pictures

Luca heads up Jellyfish Pictures’ large animation team consisting of over 80 animators, with over 30 years of experience as a lead animator, animation supervisor and story artist on many creature-heavy and animated feature films. Luca started his career as an animator, storyboard artist and character designer in Milan. Moving to Munich, Luca progressed to animation supervisor working on feature films such as Chinatown, Tobias Tod and Help I’m a Fish.
Always striving for excellence, Luca further honed his talent working on an array of illustrious productions including, Sinbad Legend of the Seven Seas, Sherlock Gnome, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Man of Steel, John Carter, Chronicles of Narnia, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Alice in Wonderland, Snow White and the Huntsman and Watership Down.
Since joining Jellyfish Pictures in 2016, Luca has been instrumental in the company’s growing episodic and feature animation work, overseeing all animation on Dennis & Gnasher: Unleashed (Beano/CBBC), Floogals (Nevision/Universal Kids) as well as animation on Jellyfish’s impressive list of VFX work.

Greg Smith, Senior Environment Artist at Creative Assembly

Greg has worked in the game industry since 2006, with his first games being Burnout Paradise and Harry Potter Order of the Phoenix as QA at Electronic Arts. He moved to Creative Assembly in 2007, and got his first chance to work as a Junior Artist on the critically-acclaimed Alien: Isolation, and then Total War: Shogun 2. He is now a Senior Environment Artist having worked on the recently released Total War: Three Kingdoms. In his spare time he paints, draws, plays DnD and is in a local symphonic orchestra.
