Undergraduate Professional Workshops

The Professional Workshop is based on the principles of a Graduate Scheme Assessment Day. Places on our Professional Workshop are by invitation, after our Admissions team receive your application.

The Workshop tasks are designed to offer those without traditional qualifications the opportunity to study a degree. It's also your opportunity to show us what you're made of.

The Professional Workshop contains four elements, all of which need to be completed:

  • Core Abilities Test
  • Watson Glaser Test
  • Written Assignment
  • Academic Interview

The Core Abilities Test measures an individual's verbal, numerical and abstract reasoning skills - the building blocks for success in any career. The Watson Glaser Test measures critical thinking. The Written Assignment measures your skills in written communication, analytical thinking and problem solving, planning and organising, and learning agility. Finally your Academic Interview is our chance to meet you and find out why you are interested in stuying with us as well as your opportunity to meet one of your future tutors and ask questions.

If you have applied via our assessment-based entry route, your performance at the Workshop will determine whether we can offer you a place on our programmes.

Insuring your offer

We recognise the importance of exams, but we also know what a stressful time it can be. Even with all of the revision and studying in the world, things don’t always go to plan. This is why we encourage offer holders to attend a Professional Workshop.

As the Professional Workshop is an alternative entry route for applicants who do not meet our standard academic entry requirements, passing the Workshop also works as an insurance policy on conditional offers based on exam results. If you do not meet your predicted grades, you could still get onto the programme based on passing the Workshop.
