A start-up project founded by Pearson Business School students
Birdcage Gin is a new luxury gin brand founded by three of our very own final year Pearson Business School students, James Willetts, Paloma Shakouri and Christian Emmans. The promising and ambitious start up was developed one year ago within the Commercial Enterprise module of the Business Management with Entrepreneurship degree at Pearson College London, through which they received ongoing mentorship and access to a wealth of knowledge and business connections.

Birdcage Gin is encompassed in a golden birdcage-inspired bottle. Our vision is for Birdcage Gin to be designed as a work of art, both inside and out; a showpiece for a bar display. Elegance Captured in a Bottle.
Our year began with an excellent start: Having pitched for funding, we were delighted to be successful in gaining start-up capital from Pearson College London.
Even at the concept stage, a number of high-end retailers expressed a strong interest; from offering to put Birdcage Gin as their ‘Gin of the Month’, to hosting our launch and contributing towards our marketing.
Over time, and as a result of extensive market research, we have refined our business model; taking an iterative approach of increasingly luxurious products.
- We have selected a Distiller, whom we are looking forward to working with to create our very own bespoke recipe of premium gin, authentically created for Birdcage Gin.
- We are delighted to have been invited to join the Westminster Business Council and eagerly anticipate taking an active role within the professional network
- We are currently in discussions with the bottling company and collaborative design team in order to turn our vision of exquisite bottles into a reality
We were to honoured to represent Birdcage Gin at the grand opening of the Pearson College London MidTown campus last month, where one of our directors, Paloma, delivered a speech internally, launching Birdcage Gin. We were thrilled with the warm reception and the level of interest expressed by the guests at our stand during the event.
Looking towards the future, there is no end to our ambition for Birdcage Gin, through developmentand diversification, we have the desire to create a truly opulent product range.
