Dr Alphonse de Kluyver

The Head of Assessments, Alphonse de Kluyver, is a higher education administrator and researcher. He has a PhD from the University of Western Australia and LLM from University College London. His current work and research focus is on assessment in higher education. He is committed to supporting the provision of challenging, engaging assessment processes for students through which they can develop and fairly demonstrate their skills and knowledge and which are an integral part of the learning process.

Alphonse has a broad and deep higher education background. He has worked as a tutor and lecturer at university level for many years in Australia and the UK. Before coming to PBS, his higher education work in the UK included running the very successful international distance learning Graduate Diploma in Law programme at BPP University over a number of years. With this he gained invaluable experience of how to support the learning and assessment needs of students from a wide range of backgrounds. In Australia, he taught at various universities and worked as the Research Officer for the Western Australia Constitutional Committee, the Research Officer for the Joint Standing Committee on the Anti-Corruption Commission of the Western Australia Parliament and the speech writer for the Western Australia Office of Citizenship and Multicultural Interests.
