John McGaw

John teaches our International Business moudle. 

After graduating with a MA in Law from Lincoln College, Oxford, John began his professional career in the City specialising in Far East stock markets.

He travelled initially (1981) to Hong Kong, China, Singapore and Malaysia in order to write country specific macro economic research and analyse companies listed on these stock exchanges as suitable investments for UK, European and Middle Eastern investment institutions. In the ensuing years, he became increasingly more involved in a broader range of emerging markets from the Far East to the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.

In 1990, he founded an Emerging Markets specialist boutique with offices in London, Hong Kong, Mumbai and Bangkok. The company also managed money for individuals and institutions to invest in Emerging Markets. His career has brought him into contact with a wide variety of industries around the globe and I have been posted to Europe, the Far East, Japan, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. He is the founding CEO of an Abu Dhabi based business development consultancy.

John is a visiting Professor at Corvinus University Budapest where he lectures on 'Emerging Markets' and have contributed to books, journals and anthology publications on the UAE as well as been a newspaper columnist for The National, Abu Dhabi. Apart from lecturing and developing businesses, he is a Senior Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Clothworkers, a Freeman of the City of London and a member of the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple.
