Pearson College London saw it's first ever group of students graduate this September, with an amazing ceremony taking place at City Hall in Central London.
A milestone moment
The first students to graduate from Pearson College London were conferred in front of family, friends and distinguished guests at the inaugural Graduation Ceremony on 25 September 2014. The ceremony took place in City Hall, London, on the south bank of the River Thames; the prestigious venue, home to the Mayor of London and the London Assembly, provided an inspiring backdrop for the celebrations. 32 graduates successfully completed the BSc (Honours) Business and Enterprise degree programme and almost one third were awarded with first class honours.
Roxanne Stockwell, Principal, Pearson College London welcomed the graduands and their familes, and she praised the success of the students and all of their achievements “this cohort of students has attended workshop events with many of our industry partners – such as Unilever, Alcatel Lucent, Cavendish Nuclear, FDM, Blackberry, the FT, covering a whole range of things from the art of tea making and the tea industry with Stephen Twining (Global Ambassador for Twinings) to learning about doing business with Russia and Africa with business development managers at ICAEW. Our students presented ideas for a new graduate recruitment plan at a workshop with Savills now being used by Savills; others won the UK brandstorm competition run by L’Oreal in our very first year; and others travelled to India and participated in a social enterprise project”
The keynote speaker Lord David Puttnam of Queensgate, CBE and Chair of the Pearson College London Academic Board spoke of the poignant occasion “I never cease to be moved at the privilege of sharing one of the most significant and joyous days of your life - and not just of your lives, but the lives those of your loved ones who have supported, and in many cases sacrificed a great deal, to make your academic journey possible.”
Rod Bristow, President, UK & Core Markets, delivered the Closing Address and paid tribute to the students "As well as saying congratulations, I would also like to thank you. Although teaching, and partnerships, and leadership are vital to a great educational institution, the thing that counts most are its students. Their aspiration, and contribution, and spirit; and we couldn’t have asked more from our first cohort of graduates."
Following the ceremony, the graduates and their guests travelled on a boat to Pearson College London at 80 Strand, for a celebratory champagne drinks reception on the 10th floor overlooking the Embankment with a stunning view of the London skyline.
Congratulations to all of our graduates!
