It's that time of year again where London comes alive to celebrate Christmas. The lights, the Christmas trees, the window displays, the festive buzz… Christmas this year is set to be more magical than ever, with a number of new shows taking to the stage alongside an array of festivals, ice rinks and traditional markets returning to get you in the festive spirit.
There’s extra excitement about Elf the Musical, now on at the Dominion, and we’ll be greeting old classics with equal amounts of festive cheer; Disney on Ice at the O2, Carols by Candlelight at the Royal Albert Hall and the star-studded Magic of Christmas at the Palladium should be on your list of must-sees.
Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland meanwhile returns again this year for more festive fun, and Winterville takes over Victoria Park in Hackney for its second time with an alternative, East London twist. If all that’s not enough to get your festive juices flowing there’ll be an array of exhibitions and pantomimes going on (oh yes there will) as well as Christmassy teas to indulge in and street food stalls to browse.
In fact there’s so much happening in London this Christmas you’ll be hard-pressed to choose what to do. To help whittle it down here’s a compiled list of people’s favourites – each of which will have you walking in a winter wonderland without having to leave your doorstep and forgetting you’re in a city at all.
