Catching up with PCSA!

Sophie Preece

By Sophie Preece, President of Pearson College London Student Association

We caught up with Sophie to find out what's been happening with PCSA. From the fresh new look of the association to the next set of elections, no doubt it's been a busy year!

What have we been up to over the last year?

When the current team took over this time last year we decided to start our societies from scratch.  We decided to implement a series of pop-up events and formed 5 different channels that these events will fall under and also to ensure that we get a variety of events.

These 5 channels are:

  • Active
  • Charity
  • Culture
  • Education
  • Nightlife

We’ve had a great year filled with lots of different events from boat parties and debating to paintballing and football, bar crawls and investment club to late night museum openings and meals out, not forgetting the Christmas Party which this year took us back to the 1920s! Through the introduction of these channels we have changed the structure of roles within the PCSA to match this which we have opened for the new team for 2016/17.

Where are we now?
We have just completed the interviews for all our applicants this week and it has been a great opportunity to hear more about their experiences and their vision for the future of the PCSA and for Pearson College London. We will be holding elections for President and Vice President positions after reading week (w/c 29th February) and we will be announcing the new team in the w/c 7th March. The current team have been busy with preparing handover documentation and sessions and we look forward to seeing who the new team will be! We are also in the middle of planning our annual Easter Party for the end of March which is a great time for all the students and staff to come together and celebrate what we’ve achieved this term.

What is our vision?
Our vision for the future of the PCSA is that the new team will take forward the revised structure we have implemented and to continue organising and hosting regular events for everyone to get involved with. We are very confident that the new PCSA will continue to work to grow and develop the social scene at PCL as well as take it to new heights with fresh ideas and enthusiasm!
