Pearson College London Graduation 2016!

By Michael Stacey, Student Support Associate at Pearson Business School

The prestigious venue of City Hall, opened its doors this week (Wednesday 5th October), to Pearson College London's third Graduation Day! It was a very special day for both students and staff, as it signifies a time of celebration and the beginning of a new journey for our new graduates as they embark on their careers.

City Hall itself is a beautiful contemporary building overlooking a perfect view of the River Thames, accompanied by the ambience of the string quartet playing in the background which set the tone on this special day for the graduates of Pearson Business School.

The day began at 1:00pm with the robing of our graduands in the main chamber, allowing time for them to talk with fellow classmates, catching up on what they have been up to since finishing their exams and even getting the chance to grab a quick ‘selfie’ of their new attire!

A welcoming speech from our Principal Roxanne Stockwell gave a warm and reflective message which allowed graduands, academic staff, friends and family to positively look back on how far the students had come in terms of their life as first years into this new institution to taking their first steps into the next chapter of their professional careers. Further emphasising the fact that graduation day is a widely anticipated day for the Pearson Business School calendar, as it symbolises the achievements and personal goals that have universally been met by students.

Andy Moss, Senior Vice President of Higher Education at Pearson followed Roxanne by encouraging students to savour the day and the moments as much as possible, and that their incredible journey with Pearson Business School.

Then came the awarding of the degrees by Sarah Macdonald, our Vice Principal of Academic Quality and Enhancement who gave out the awards for the Bachelor of Arts Honours (Business Management level 6 students) and The Bachelor of sciences (Business Enterprises). The new graduates then had the chance to quickly pose with Sarah and their new certificates with the picturesque River Thames backdrop in the background! This was swiftly followed by the ceremony of awards to both Higher National Diploma students and graduates, marking all the achievements from within Pearson Business School.

Robbie Griffey’s (a Pearson Business School graduate) poignant speech followed, detailing university life at Pearson Business School and a time for personal reflection on how far the students and Pearson Business School had come in the past three years. This clearly touched everyone from the students and staff to family and friends, who all agreed that Robbie's speech was a certain highlight of the day!

The ceremony ended with a warm thank you from Roxanne Stockwell. To close the day and to give chance for students and family to interact with each other and staff, proceedings moved up to the top floor of City Hall surrounded by stunning views of London and also gave the new graduates a chance to get a professional photograph with their families and to relax and enjoy a perfect afternoon of celebrations!

A huge congratulations to all our graduates!
