Centre for Industry Engagement (CIE).

Pearson College London is pleased to announce the launch of its new Centre for Industry Engagement (CIE).

The Centre lies at the heart of Pearson College London's mission to integrate the worlds of industry and academia and builds on the expertise and industry engagement within the institution’s two schools: Escape Studios and Pearson Business School, which currently design, develop and deliver a number ofdegrees and short courses, in collaboration with industry partners. It aims tobecome a hub of collaboration between education and employers, to explore,debate and research issues, and to share and disseminate the knowledge andunderstanding we develop together more widely.

The Centre for Industry Engagement builds on the core strengths and activities of Pearson College London and will fulfil this mission through four central activities:

  • Collaboration between industry and the academic community, in the design, development and delivery of innovative new degree and apprenticeship programmes;

  • Development of collaborative research projects that explore issues at the interface of higher education and the world of employment, or are otherwise of relevance to our academic community;

  • Creation of authentic learning opportunities for students that enable them to engage academically and professionally with industry (including international partners) through a variety of activities, such as: participation in industry projects; internships; apprenticeships; and conferences; and

  • Organisation of thought leadership events, bringing our stakeholders together to explore, discuss and debate current topics at the intersection of industry and education

To mark the launch of Pearson College London's Centre for Industry Engagement, we held Apprenticeship Question Time on Wednesday 17 May in which leading figures from the worlds of education, employment and skills discussed the challenges and opportunities facing the sector.

The following speakers attended the event:

  • Margaret Mountford, formerly of BBC’s The Apprentice
  • Roxanne Stockwell, Principal of Pearson College London
  • Professor Baroness Alison Wolf

“We are very excited about the creation of our new Centre for Industry Engagement, which aims to embody the Pearson College Mission of bridging the worlds of industry and academia for the benefit of all stakeholders in higher education.

The Centre will define everything we do as a College – from designing and delivering new degree and apprenticeship programmes in partnership with industry; to the creation of cutting edge research at the intersection of industry and pedagogy; to providing a forum at the heart of a FTSE100 company where leaders across industry, academia and politics can debate and discuss the key issues of the day in higher education and training.”

About Pearson College
A university education, powered by industry experience.

Industry engagement is at the core of everything that we do; it’s the key to delivering our vision of empowering the people that will change the world.

Our mission is clear: to become the UK’s leading university for in-depth industry engagement. Our academic schools are united by our mantra “designed, developed, delivered by industry” and we ensure our students graduate industry ready, as their career starts from day one.

Our students are taught by experts who have all worked in their respective industries and they’re mentored by leaders within industry too. They get to deliver on live industry briefs and attend industry workshops led by some of the world’s most reputable organisations. We work with industry giants from Unilever, L’Oreal, WPP and IBM, to Framestore, Double NegativeMPC and The Mill, and that’s what sets us apart.

When you combine higher education and industry, everyone benefits. Especially when there’s a need for graduates to stand out from the crowd in a competitive market.  Industry engagement drives us; it’s not just what we do, it’s who we are. And it is what will take us, and our students, into the future.
