GetGeared Degree Apprenticeship Launched

Entrepreneurial motorbike equipment company, GetGeared partners with Pearson Business School to launch their first degree apprenticeship.

This opportunity offers prospective students the chance to get inspired and learn while they earn at a small entrepreneurial business in the motorbike industry. GetGeared is a boutique business based in Surrey that specialises in both on-road and off-road motorbike equipment. They are passionate about  the sport and this is reflected in their success.

Two entrepreneurial and ambitious individuals will be chosen to complete this new Degree Apprenticeship and will help to contribute to the success and development of the entrepreneurial company. Based between Holborn and Surrey, the students will complete a three-year Business Management degree, graduate with Chartered Manager Status and will build up their network of professional contacts at the same time.

This three-year degree apprenticeship is designed to give the student-apprentice the experience of working for a global company, whilst studying for an honours degree at the same time. The role will cover areas such as purchasing, replenishment, product and content, so this is the perfect opportunity to develop a strong understanding of what it’s like to be an entrepreneur and grow a successful business.

Degree apprenticeships are a growing and developing part of Higher Education and part of the future at Pearson Business School. The GetGeared Degree Apprenticeship expands on the hugely successful portfolio delivered by Pearson Business School, including the L’Oreal Degree Apprenticeship, Rotational Degree Apprenticeship, BBC Degree Apprenticeship, Mondelez Degree Apprenticeship, International Rotational Degree Apprenticeship,  Millwall FC Degree Apprenticeship, Red Carnation Hotel Degree Apprenticeship, Moorfields Degree Apprenticeship and the Pearson Degree Apprenticeship.

One of our current Degree Apprentices at GetGeared, Katie Crossley said:

“In my opinion, this is the best way to learn! You are earning money, have the chance to apply your theory, and can make improvements at your company. It’s a win-win for everyone and especially helps you improve your time management. Having a structured week is really good for your productivity.”

Tuition fees will be paid for by GetGeared and the student-apprentice will be paid at least £14,000 - £16,000 per annum, with time off for study. They’ll also graduate debt-free, as their fees will be covered.

Applicants can apply, from 31st October 2018.

Pearson Business School is part of Pearson College London – the UK’s first higher education institution to be founded by a FTSE 100 company.

Applications for the GetGearedDegree Apprenticeship programme close on Friday 30th November 2018.

About Pearson Business School
Education, powered by industry experience.

We're transforming higher education. As a FTSE 100 company, immersed in industry, we do things differently. Industry engagement is at the core of everything that we do, and it’s what sets us apart.

We offer all full-time degree students guaranteed internships*, so they gain experience during their studies. Our degree apprentices also get to work within a company throughout their studies, so they gain valuable experience, learning on the job. We help our students to build their own professional networks; they’re taught by well-connected industry experts, and they get to make contacts at industry workshops led by some of the world’s most reputable organisations.  We work with industry giants from Unilever, L’Oreal, and Sony Pictures, to WPP, Lloyds of London and IBM. Alongside their academic studies, it's experiences like these that help our students to develop the knowledge and skills they’ll need to succeed, as well as inspire them, so they have the drive and ambition to get ahead.

Our students are enterprising and entrepreneurial. They get to work with our in-house business incubator FindOutFresher, and many have set up their own companies too, like Kickpush and Yaantu and even social enterprises like Once Upon a Doug.

Our alumni have gone on to work for brands such as Nestle, Sainsbury’s, Microsoft, Dyson, Not on the High Street, the BBC, Snapchat, Wincanton and General Mills.

Industry engagement drives us; it’s not just what we do, it’s who we are. And it is what will take us, and our students, into the future.
