What will I earn as a Graduate?

In this blog, we’ve broken down some of the opportunities our degrees could open for you and what you could expect to earn.


  • Brand Management
    Salary guide: Salaries tend to range from £19,500 to £30,000 for an Assistant Brand Manager, up to £50,000 or more for a Senior Brand Manager.
  • Buying (Retail)
    Salary guide: A typical starting salary for a junior buying role would be £19,000 to £25,000. With more experience of the job, you could expect a salary between £30,000 and £60,000. A senior retail buyer could earn within the region of £55,000 to £70,000+.
  • Chartered Accountancy
    Salary guide: Graduates entering the career can expect to earn salaries of up to £25,000. The median salary for ICAEW Chartered Accountants working in business is £79,300*
  • Distribution and Logistics
    Salary guide: Trainee logistics and distribution managers can earn annual salaries ranging between £17,000 and £30,000, while experienced managers can earn around £30,000 to £50,000 per annum. Senior managers can earn up to £125,000 a year.
  • Graphic Designer
    Salary guide: Starting salaries can range from £14,000 to £22,000. Senior designers can earn around £70,000 depending on the business and type of work. Freelance graphic designers are also common and this allows you to be more in control of how much you earn.
  • Human Resources (HR)
    Salary guide: HR Assistants or Administrators usually earn around £15,000 to £19,000 per annum. Salaries for HR Officers can be between £18,000 and £25,000 a year. HR Managers can earn between £25,000 and £50,000 a year or more.
  • Insurance
    Salary guide: Starting salaries within insurance tend to be around £25,000 per annum. Salaries vary depending upon the role that you’re in; Senior Underwriters, Actuarial roles and Risk Management roles generally earn the highest paid salaries within the industry
  • Legal
    Salary guide: Graduate salary: £18,000 - £30,000+. Salary after training: £35,000 - £45,000+.
  • Market Research
    Salary guide: For an entry level role, you could start earning between £15,000 to £20,000. With additional experience, this can increase to £28,000 and between £40,000 and £50,000 for Senior Market Research positions.
  • Merchandising (Retail)
    Salary guide: Starting out in the industry you can expect to earn around £16,000 to £18,000 (depending on the company and area) rising to £22,000 with experience. After several years' experience, a merchandiser can expect to earn between £28,000 and £36,000 rising to £45,000 to £65,000 for a senior position.
  • Operations/Product Manager
    Salary guide: Annual salaries can range from £29,000 to £53,000 with the average salary being £37,500.
  • Product Marketing / Content Marketing
    Salary guide: Salaries tend to range from £19,500 to £30,000 for a Marketing Executive through to an Assistant Product Marketing Manager role, £30,000 to £40,000 for a Product Marketing Manager role and up to £50,000 or more for a Senior Product Marketing Manager.
  • Sales
    Salary guide: Salaries can range from £28,000 to £55,000 and are often incentivised for Sales staff (i.e. bonus structures and targets in place). Senior Sales Managers or Heads of Departments can earn up to £70,000.
