Pearson College London awarded Silver in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF)
Pearson College London has received a prestigious Silver award for teaching excellence in recognition of its excellent student outcomes, personalised provision, full-time student progression to employment, effective programme design and its exceptionally high rates of highly skilled employment or further study.
The government award scheme recognises Pearson College London as providing effective teaching and learning and reinforces our position as an institution committed to providing industry focused education for current and prospective students.
The Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) is an award introduced by the Government to encourage the delivery of excellent teaching in higher education institutions in the UK. The UK has a world-class reputation for excellence in higher education; the TEF is intended to help students decide where to study, by providing information about teaching provision and student outcomes and the Silver award is a mark of recognition that Pearson College London has consistently exceeded the rigorous national quality requirements for UK higher education.
The TEF Panel judgement also highlights evidence of:
- Acceleration of studies - the option to accelerate studies through taking modules over the summer
- Employability - students acquiring knowledge, skills and understanding that are highly valued by employers through the College’s strategy that embeds employability in courses and extra-curricular activities
- High quality physical and digital resources - that are used by students to further their learning
- Programme design that is effective in stretching students to develop independence, knowledge, understanding and skills that reflect their full potential
- Personalised provision - with the option to choose specific modules in relation to areas of interest

When we first designed our approach to teaching and learning in 2012 we looked at many studies that showed the importance of direct employer engagement on employment and academic results for undergraduates. We therefore made sure we drew on Pearson Plc’s connections to ensure employer input into the design, development and delivery of our programmes. This is now starting to pay off as we are seeing our graduates really succeed as they move into their careers. We are very pleased this has been recognised in the Silver TEF award, especially for such a young institution. Students are at the heart of everything that we do and our focus is on ensuring they’re equipped with the skills that graduate employers are looking for; 100% of our graduates were in work or further study with salaries well above the national average*.
