Tesco and Pearson College London announce partnership to offer Business Management Degree Apprenticeship
Tesco has partnered with Pearson College London, part of Pearson, a FTSE 100 and global education company, to attract, educate and develop young talent in six London boroughs.
This new collaboration will open up education opportunities for young people, as well as provide valuable business experience at Tesco. Participants will study for a degree at Pearson College London, which has recently been recognised as one of the top 20 institutions in the UK for its graduates entering full-time employment. The 3-year programme will see participants taking on various leadership roles in a large Tesco store, with access to a wide variety of workshops and resources to support personal development.
Emma Taylor, Tesco UK & ROI People Director said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Pearson College London to give school leavers the opportunity to gain hands-on paid retail management experience, alongside studying one day a week to successfully gain their degree.”
The programme opened for applications in September 2020 and shortlisted candidates will be asked to a virtual discovery centre run by Tesco, in conjunction with Pearson College London, at the start of 2021. Successful applicants will start in September 2021.
Their starting annual salary will be £18,000, plus London weighting. In addition, all tuition fees and travel expenses to attend college will be covered.
Dr Roxanne Stockwell, Principal of Pearson College London, said: “Industry engagement is at the heart of everything that we do at Pearson College London. We know from research and the outstanding employment outcomes of our own graduates how much value employers add to student learning. So we are extremely excited to be partnering with Tesco to offer the next generation of talent this life-changing opportunity.”
